Graduate Information
The University of New England’s graduates perform quite well compared to National University standards. According to the Quality Indicators of Learning and Teaching (QILT) survey results, 77.3% of UNE undergraduate students were able to obtain full-time employment within four months fo graduating, compared to the 69.5% national average. For postgraduate students, 81.1% were able to find a full-time job after graduating, with the national average across universities in Australia sitting at 83.5%.
Undergraduates at UNE had a median salary of $60,000 per year, which is much higher than the $56,000 average. Postgraduate students had a median salary of $78, 300, according to the QILT survey, slightly less than the $80,000 national average.

UNE English Language Centre
The English Language centre is a fantastic resource for international students in particular, providing students with English language support and education to help them develop the level of skills that will be needed to succeed in their studies at UNE
Academic Skills Office
The Academic Skills Office (ASO) provides a range of services and workshops to help students in different areas of their studies. Assignment writing, researching, referencing, Academic skills and exam preparation are all covered and a widely used service year-round
tUNE Up
tUNE Up is a specialised program offered by the University of New England. The course is a free two- week course that helps those who are returning to study after a while gain the skills needed to do well when returning back to university. This program is perfect for mature-aged students who may not be as confident in their practical and technical skills
Regional Study Centres
One of the greatest additions to the University of New England are the regional study centres located around New South Wales. These centres allow students to access support and resources when they are unable to physically attend a campus.
Each centre is fitted with computers, online library facilities and study areas. UNE Regional Study Centres are located at Coonbarabran, Gunnedah, Invernell, Moree, Narrabri, Tenterfield, Glenn Innes and Guyra. UNE Tamwoth Centre is also a popular study centre for students, as is the UNE Manning Valley Centre in Taree and the Cooma Universities Centre.
Global Opportunities
The University of New England provides excellent opportunities for students to make the most of their time at University and take part in global study options, either for a semester or an entire year of their degree. The exchange and Study Abroad programs at UNE can allow you to study in 13 different countries. These countries include the likes of France, Germany, Japan, the US, Italy and Canada.
UNE Research Centres
The University of New England is especially dedicated to furthering their research efforts and contributing to the findings that are key to addressing some of the world’s biggest issues. UNE research is particularly focused on agriculture and technology.
Over a quarter of the University of New England’s research efforts were rated as ‘well above world standard’ in the 2015 Excellence in Research in Australia awards. In addition to this, 87% of all research conducted by the University is set at ‘world standard’. Study areas include agricultural sciences, environmental and biology studies. education, computational science and medical and health science.
SMART Farm Innovative Centre
The University of New England’s SMART (Sustainable, Manageable, Accessible Rural Technologies) Farm is situated on a 2,900-hectare farm 10 km of the Armidale campus. Equipped with the latest technologies, the farm allows for development of equipment and machinery to streamline farming workflow, improve sustainability and provide networks to farming businesses Australia- wide. The farm provides research, education and demonstrations of innovative new technologies which is crucial in Agricultural studies for UNE students as well as the industry domestically.
Animal and Genetics Breeding Unit (AGBU)
UNE’s Animal and Genetics Breeding Unit (AGBU) is a joint partnership between the University of New England and the NSW Department of Primary Industries. The centre focuses on the genetics and breeding of primary Australian livestock. The use of innovative and emerging technologies and methods is concerned with how to breed better livestock which can be made available to breeders. The centre provides study opportunities for undergraduate and postgraduate students, with the chance to work in this leading R&D genetic evaluation centre alongside world-class scientists in the field.

Institute for Rural Futures (IRF)
This centre forms the heart of the University of New England’s research into rural socio-economic conditions and evaluate the changes occurring to the communities, groups and towns in the remotest parts of Australia. The main areas of focus include the social, economic and environmental impacts on these groups during times of change.
Paleoscience Research Centre
The University of New England’s Paleoscience Research Centre is home to the largest Paleoscience team in Australia. Area of studies cover everything from Ice Age microfossils to Dinosaurs and Megafauna. The main research themes often seen in the centre are animal evolution and biomechanics, dinosaurs, extinctions, microfossils and tectonics, and palaeoanthropology. There are opportunities for undergraduate student programs for UNE students, as well as postgraduate research projects for Honours, Masters and PhD students
Campuses
The University of New England has one main campus in the city of Armidale, in the west of NSW. The campus is split up across several different sites throughout Armidale, with most to the north; only five kilometres from the city centre. The Newling campus, located on the other side of town, is also used and managed by the University and is especially used by the music department and associated bodies in this industry.
UNE also has a presence closer to Sydney, with the University of New England’s FutureCampus in Parramatta. This is used as a study centre, learning hub and a great resource for the University’s extensive flexible learning student community. The FutureCampus has a range of online learning resources, flexible study options and a physical presence with UNE for students in Western Sydney.
Armidale Campus
The University of New England Armidale campus offers a relaxed, authentic learning environment in 74 hectares of heritage native bushland. It also boasts one of the most extensive residential colleges in Australia, and being one of the largest rural University’s, it’s a great place for both domestic and international students.
UNE Medical Centre
The UNE Medical Centre is a state-of-the-art regional facility which is run by a team of professional and fully-qualified nurses and doctors. Services are available to the community as well as staff and students. The services include general health care, women’s health, contraceptive advice, immunisations, specialist referrals and health education.
UNE Psychology Clinic
The UNE Psychology Clinic provides a range of assessment and therapy to treat several conditions and problems in children, adolescents and adults. Cognitive, intellectual, memory and behavioural assessments can be conducted, as well as treatments for anger management, anxiety and phobias, Bipolar Disorder, depression, learning problems in children as well as grief and loss counselling. The UNE Psychology Clinic also runs the Clinical Psychology Program for postgraduate students, offering them the chance to access training in a real-world research and assessment facility under the supervision of professionals.
Booloominbah
Booloominbah is a historical heritage site situated on the Armidale campus. The National Trust listed property is of particular importance, being designed by the renowned John Horbury Hunt in the late nineteenth-century for Frederick Robert White. The striking gothic design of the manor house attracts many visitors throughout the year and is available for touring. It’s a fantastic addition to the campus, due to both its historic significance and beautiful display of nineteenth-century architecture and is often used as the grounds for the graduation ceremonies of the university of New England students.
Environmental and Rural Science Facilities
The range of faculties under environmental sciences at UNE all work together and collaborate to address issues relating to environmental and rural issues both domestically and globally. There are few Universities that offer this, and by doing so, UNE students have access to a multitude of world- class facilities and technologies. Some of the facilities include;
Laboratories
Some of the laboratories that UNE houses include X-Ray, analytical and carbon research labs, plant and soil labs, ecology, wildlife, chromatography and limnological laboratories. The technologies on offer in these laboratories are state-of-the art and can be used for anything from analysing water and atmosphere samples, light and radiation meters, conducting chemical analysis on soil and plant samples through to spectroscopy and carbon analysis.
Collections
The University of New England’s environmental and science school is home to thousands of specimens, samples and collections which act as a vital learning resource for students, especially those in postgraduate studies. The school has the largest collection of mineral, rock, dirt and fossil in the New England region, with over 75,000 samples in total. UNE also houses the N.C.W Beadle Herbarium (NE) which includes over 100,000 plant specimens as well as state-of-the-art imaging equipment. The University of New England’s Zoology Museum is also a fantastic asset to the school, which is also open for all. The museum houses a multitude of Australian animals, focusing on anatomy, taxonomy and evolution. It’s especially designed to support with the teaching of the Zoology department’s students.
SportUNE
Sport UNE is an exceptional asset to the University of New England Armidale campus and is fully fitted out with modern equipment and technology, as well as an indoor heated pool and facilities for a range of sports including rock climbing, soccer, archery, hockey and basketball. The SportUNE centre also provides a range of group fitness classes as well as having cardio and weight training equipment, two sports fields, an athletics track, multi-purpose stadium and an indoor rock climbing wall.
UNE Library
The UNE Library, also known as the Dixson Library, is a fantastic learning resource for students, with thousands of books, journals, articles and e-resources available to access which can help with any assignment or report. Dispersed across four floors, the UNE Library also provides a number of learning spaces for collaboration and meetings, group study rooms, public access computers, individual study spaces, special collections and publications, laptop lockers, printers and scanners as well as a quiet study and research floor.
UNE Newling Campus
The Newling Campus is a secondary campus location at UNE Armidale campus, situated seven kilometres across town. The building is used by different groups and faculties by the school, as well as housing a small number of permanent tenants. The CW Newling building was established in 1931 and is now heritage listed. The University of New England acts as the manager of the building, which houses the New England Conservatorium of Music, UNE Music Department as well as other musical bodies and associations.
Accommodation
The University of New England Armidale campus provides a range of accommodation options for students; both on-campus and off-campus living arrangements. UNE’s residential colleges also provide academic mentors to assist residents with assessment tasks, assignment writing as well as exam preparation. The social side of UNE’s resident students is also very important, with each college creating a variety of social events throughout the year for students living on campus including dinners, trivia nights, barbeques as well as the highly-anticipated College Ball.
Austin College
UNE’s Austin College is open to all students, both Australian residents and international. The relaxed, close-knot college is known for its social, sporting and academic balance as well as the range of events it provides students with each year. The Austin College also comes with meals provided, including 5 evening dinners., Sunday to Thursday. One of the greatest aspects of this residential college is the ‘Attic Bar’, a converted space that acts as the primary hang out spot for residents and is great for socialising and meeting your neighbours. Room options are private bedroom suites with a study and a shared bathroom. Other college facilities include a common room, laundry, exercise room, licenced bar, BBQ areas and music room.
Duval College
One of the oldest residential colleges at UNE, Duval College is located on secure grounds and provides more intimate accommodation, with eight people located per floor. There’s a total of twelve two-storey blocks with shared courtyards, BBQ areas and gardens. Duval College is equipped with common rooms, a gym, entertainment centre and music room. There are eight private rooms per floor, with a shared bathroom. Meals are provided to UNE’s Duval College residents in the college’s very own dining hall, with five meals provided per week and additional meal purchases being made at the Duval Dining Hall.
Earle Page College
Earle Page College is known at the University of New England as being the ‘cultural college’ and is renowned among the student community for its unique facilities including a grand piano and two music rooms. Like most of the colleges, the Earle Page College students have access to five meals per week, as well as a communal kitchen facility. There’s also a Dining Hall, exercise room, BBQ area and college library on the College grounds. The rooms are private suites, with a shared bathroom and kitchenette area on each floor.
Mary White College
The Mary White College is predominantly catered for, with meals available at the Mary Bagnall Dining Hall, though self- catering options are now made available. It also provides a number of different room types; including single rooms, shared single rooms, twin rooms with ensuite, private single and double rooms with private-use bathrooms as well as a suite which features a separate bedroom, study area and private ensuite.
Robb College
The University of New England’s Rob College provides home-away-from-home living for over 200 students from around Australia and the world. Students not only five dinners available to them per week, but also five lunches as well as a fully-equipped communal kitchen. The college features a courtyard which is home to many parties and events throughout the year, as well as common rooms and entertainment areas, BBQ areas, a computer room and a gym. Student rooms are single bedrooms with a shared bathroom, common living area and kitchen.
Wright College and Village
The Wright College and village both have access to plenty of social areas, including a large common room with a pool table, music equipment, BBQ areas and a gazebo. There are two types of accommodation at the Wright College and Village, wither apartments at the College, or units at the Village. Apartments are self- contained and students have the options out of studio apartments for single occupancy, large studio apartments or one bedroom apartments. All apartments contain a kitchenette, ensuite and a study space. Village options include flats which have four, six or eight bedrooms with shared living spaces.
Sydney Campus
The University of New England has a campus located in Parramatta, Sydney. This campus is called the UNE FutureCampus and is a recent addition to the UNE locations.
This smaller satellite campus situated in Parramatta, Sydney acts as the University of New England’s physical presence in the city. Being a rural University, UNE created this FutureCampus to provide a study centre and learning hub that was accessible to students outside of Armidale, Australia. The campus is fitted out with state-of-the-art technology and equipment including video wall virtual meetups and conferencing capabilities, advanced technological delivery platforms for collaborating in groups, especially used for cross-campus communication.
It also has plenty of study spaces to suit students’ needs, including quiet individual study spaces, group collaboration and conferencing rooms as well as open study rooms. The University of New England Parramatta Campus is predominantly used to provide specialised course content delivery to students to ensure they get the right balance between stud and life.
