Melbourne Burwood Campus
Burwood is a town only thirty minutes from Melbourne CBD, making it a great place for students to enjoy a relaxed, laid-back campus lifestyle while still having all the city offers at your fingertips. The Deakin University Melbourne campus is filled with open spaces and parks and home to 26,000 students; making it Deakin’s largest campuses.
Deakin University Library
The Deakin University Burwood Library is located at all campus locations and boasts a huge range of resources, facilities and services to suit all your study and research needs. Across the campuses, there’s over 1.75 million books and online books, with tens of thousands of resources available on a shared database and at the Deakin Library.
The Burwood Melbourne campus also has a state-of-the-art library, with access to learning spaces for individual, group and collaborative study. There’s also rooms that support videoconferencing, shared screens and audio-visual displays making it the go-to place for all assignments, group projects and exam prep.
Deakin Medical Centre
Deakin University is one of the few in Australia to be a registered Medical School, making it a highly-specialised institute in the areas of health and medicine. That’s why each of the four main campuses all include a Medical centre that’s central to promoting and health and wellbeing of the campus and the greater community. The Deakin Melbourne Burwood campus has a Medical Centre that provide care and consultation in many different areas, including treating general illness, mental health and counselling, physiotherapy, pathology testing, vaccination and general health checks.
Deakin YMCA Burwood
If you’re looking for a fun, inclusive environment to get fitter and healthier, the Deakin YMCA at the Melbourne Burwood campus is for you. With many programs, activities and events to choose from, the YMCA is a fantastic place to meet other students, be part of a sporting team and take part in personal training, group fitness and health and wellness programs.
Deakin Motion.Lab
The Deakin Motion.Lab is a creative consultancy that draws together research, technology and creativity to provide solutions through animations, events, films and advertising. As a part of Deakin University Burwood, the consultancy involves designers and programmers to create virtual reality, augmented reality and technology-driven art.
It’s also an additional research centre that assists with the Institute for Intelligent Systems Research and Innovation (IISRI) with a focus on innovation in media and digital art. Just some of the big-name brands that have worked with Motion.Lab for advertising campaigns include the ads for Quilton, T20 Cricket World Cup 2016, Abbott’s Bakery and Tooheys Extra Dry.
Deakin University Art Gallery
The Deakin university gallery is a fantastic addition to the Melbourne Burwood Campus, providing an extraordinary venue that showcases a number of exhibits, galleries and events throughout the year. Art is chosen from Deakin’s own collection or a selected range from students, staff, alumni and Australian artists.
The Deakin Art gallery hosts public and educational programs throughout the year to allows visitors to get a better understanding of art and take part in discussions with curators, artists and contributors. From seminars, talk panels and a beautiful sculpture walk; its’ a great place to reflect, meet with other art enthusiasts and draw on inspiration.
Accommodation
Accommodation at Deakin university is a big deal, providing not only a state-of-the-art facility for students to stay at, but also promoting a strong residential community with events and activities held throughout the year. No matter what options you’re after, there’s a room available, including single studio apartments and shared units. Shared spaces are available in two to ten bedroom units with every student having a private bedroom and study space with a shared kitchen and bathroom area. The Deakin University Burwood campus also has plenty of recreation areas where you can relax and enjoy your social time with other residents.
Geelong Waurn Ponds Campus
Geelong is one of Victoria’s most famous cities, located only minutes from some of the best surf beaches along the coast. If you’re after a relaxed, nature-filled campus to pursue your education at, then the Deakin University Waurn Ponds is perfect for you. The Waurn Ponds campus is dotted with outdoor areas and spacious buildings that create a laidback environment to study or socialise.
Deakin University Regional Community Health Hub (REACH)
Deakin University is committed to regional health, promoting the uptake of medical staff and students in the area to serve rural communities. As part of this commitment, the Deakin Regional Community Health Hub (REACH) was established with support from the government to support graduate and postgraduate research and study in areas of health, medicine, science, technology, nursing and behavioural sciences. It comprises of over four levels of state-of-the-art facilities, teaching rooms, lecture theatres and research areas.
Centre for Advanced Design in Engineering Training (CADET)
The Engineering Precinct at Deakin University Geelong campus is renowned for its technology-driven approach to education and research in this sector. One of the University’s efforts is the Centre for Advanced Design in Engineering Training (CADET) which is used to further engineering design in Australia through innovative design and a collaborative approach that gets students take charge of their education, through imagination, guidance and mentoring.

The Deakin University Waurn Ponds campus has plenty of accommodation options to suit your needs. Studio apartments, shared units and townhouses are all provided so you can tailor your living style to what you’re after. Medical students have access to the shared townhouses, with other students choosing between single apartment rooms or shared areas, all of which gives you a private bedroom with shared kitchen, bathroom and laundry facilities for shared options. There’s also plenty of common areas with pool tables, TVs and lunge areas to let you relax and socialise with your fellow on-campus residents.
Geelong Waterfront Campus
The Deakin University Waterfront Campus is in the heart of Geelong, close to the city’s facilities, shops and famous beaches. Located about an hour from Melbourne, Geelong is the state’s second most populated area, filled with restaurants, bars, shopping centres and plenty to do. The Geelong Waterfront Campus is rich in history, where traditional 19th century buildings have been renovated and transformed into world-class teaching facilities that still hold their charm.
Sally Walker Project Space
The Sally Walker Project Space is a fantastic addition to the Deakin University Waterfront Campus, providing a contemporary exhibition space to showcase the talents of those in University and Geelong communities. Students in the Creative Arts have the opportunity to have their work displayed and can draw on inspiration from other’s creativity. The University also actively encourages artist talks, workshops and events to be held throughout the year, so students have the chance to fully embrace the artistry promoted by the Sally Walker Project Space.
Deakin University Medical Centre
The Deakin University Medicine faculty is a large part of the University’s focus, especially in their efforts to promote and support medical students studying in regional areas access technology and quality education that can lead to them becoming the medical professionals needed in rural communities. Through the Deakin Medical Centres at each of the campuses, students and the community can access key medical services and training in many different medical and health related areas. Deakin Waterfront Campus Library
Deakin University library is the heart of campus in every location, including The Deakin Geelong Waterfront Campus. Accommodation
Deakin University accommodation is particularly special at the Geelong Waterfront Campus, with 33 state-of-the-art townhouses being available in the historic T&G building. The T&G Building was originally built in 1933, featuring a famous clock that was recently restored and renovated by Deakin in 2014. Now consisting of stylish apartment-style living; the building is a central point to Geelong and easily accessible to the facilities both on campus and off. Rooms include furnished apartments with a kitchenette and ensuite, with communal facilities including a lounge that will become the central socialising spot with residents.
Warrnambool Campus
Warrnambool is a regional town of Victoria, with a rich maritime history and plenty of attractions, including its beaches that draw crowds every year. The Deakin Warrnambool Campus is situated on the Hopkins River, in close proximity to the beaches and town facilities that make this coastal town one of a kind. From the famous Maritime Museum, Whale Watching and breath-taking coastlines; this is a great town to explore everything it has to offer and study in a relaxed coastal setting.
Deakin University Library
The Deakin Library at Warrnambool is the heart of the campus, serving the many students that call this town home. It’s range of resources, books, journals and articles makes it the go-to place for all assignment, reports and group projects throughout the Deakin academic calendar. There’s also plenty of e-resources available through the Deakin Portal. With interactive technology, printing, copying and scanning services and specialised rooms with audio-visual displays and video conferencing capabilities; the library has everything you need at your fingertips. The Deakin Warrnambool library also has three dedicated study rooms available for booking for study sessions, presentations and meetings.
Deakin Warrnambool Fitness Centre
The University has plenty on offer to serve the sporting and recreational needs of its students. At the Warrnambool campus, the Fitness Club provides students with a range of sporting and gym equipment, including a weight room, cardio training equipment and a fitness assessment to help you determine what training is best for your goals. Warrnambool is one of Victoria’s biggest tourist town, so what better place to live while you earn your degree? The Deakin University accommodation options at Warrnambool Campus have studio apartments and shared units available depending on what you prefer, so you can live by yourself or with others. Housing up to 342 students, the residential buildings are fully furnished, with every student having a private bedroom. Shared units have access to a kitchen, bathroom and common areas where you can socialise and hang out with other students living on campus.
Deakin Study Centres
Deakin University has three Learning Centres throughout Victoria, in metropolitan and regional areas that serve as an extension of existing campuses to support students accessing services and education without having to travel to a University. In addition to these Learning Centres, there’s also TAFE Partnerships that provide Deakin courses in Lilydale, Rosebud and Swan Hill. These specialised Centres focus on providing quality support and equipment to assist anyone with finishing their studies.
